It was never until that day , when I realized that I have to think and take action as per the plan, with a definite goal in mind and a set timeframe.

Every single day , we plan certain tasks to get done. Some of them we do and many of them we do not. That creates a big vacuum and germinates the stress point. There are myriad people who fall in the above mentioned category.

When I was in college, it was clear in my mind that after passing out I will be in corporate world. Never I gave a thought of what kind of job, for how many years; never planned for short or long term goals and so on.

So, post finishing masters I stepped into corporate world. For one year, it was all smooth, easy, learning and fun. But when the appraisal time came, then I had to go back to those days mentally, what I did, what all achievements I got against my assigned targets, have I taken any initiative, have I shown the leadership skill anywhere, what extra I have done etc.

As when I grew older into organizations , these questions became even more prominent and now it came as a prestige issue for being a reasonable senior staff , having spent a decent period in the company.

And the time flies… even before we realize that we have spent a good amount of time in our corporate career.

Why goal and the time line are so important?

They gave us a state of urgency, continuity in work with undisturbed and undivided attention. When we set goals , by writing them out, then invariably we ensure that our life is geared towards getting most out of every moment.

Even knowing these from various sources, why many of us are still on the same stage?

May be , our life is not showing us that straight road.

So, How to get there? No short cuts for any of us.

Getting up in those wee hours : Building the good habits and maintaining them for the rest of the life is something that is invaluable. Getting up early gives us that extra one or two hours of our lives to live just for our own self, in own way and for own improvement .

Not to take Criticism personally: Criticisms pull you back, hurts you and make you most unproductive.

So, the thumb rule is not to take any of them personally, it’s just a passing by affair.

Learning new things on a daily basis: In this knowledge economy, not updating yourself is as good as a state of illiteracy. So, keep a count on what all vitamins have you fed your mind today and how is it going to help you.

Developing a Adaptive mindset: Keep your mind open to new challenges, new technologies and any small or big hindrances on your way.

Keep up your faith, hard work and steadfast mind under the right mentorship. At least you can escape many of the mistakes or setbacks that they have made.
